Asbestos Awareness

Duration: 4 hour Course - 1/2 Day, 4 - IICRC CEC hours earned


Course Description:

This 4 hour class is an introduction of asbestos within the workplace. This course is designed to provide asbestos awareness to contractors, maintenance staff and managers that encounter asbestos containing materials (ACM) during typical work related duties. The course provides an overview on the following topics:

  • Asbestos

  • History of Asbestos

  • Use and Applications

  • Hazards and Health Effects

  • Legislation

  • Asbestos Management and Risk Levels

    Learning Outcomes:

    On Completion of this course, learners will have better understanding of the Asbestos Regulation and compliance of asbestos regulations.

    Course Structure:

    Section 1: What is Asbestos? Asbestos History. Statistics from WorkSafeBC
    Section 2: Where is Asbestos Found in a Building? How does it look like? WorkSafeBC regulations Section 3: Toxicology and Health Effect of Asbestos
    Section 4: WorkSafeBC Asbestos Abatement Risk Level. Emergency Procedures and PPE use. Section 5: FAQ & Questions
