Self-Paced online with in-person practical training in Kelowna

Length: This self-paced course with in-person practical training and exam can be completed in as little as 1 week

Prerequisite: Level 1 included

Equipment Required: Respirator and closed toe footwear for in-person practical training

Who it’s for: Professionals whose work involves the removal of asbestos-containing materials in relations to a building, including abatement work done before fire or flood restoration work, renovation, or demolition activities.

Skills/job/work it supports: During this self-paced training, you’ll learn the regulations and procedures related to working around asbestos. The curriculum meets the requirements laid out by WorkSafeBC.

Course objective: As part of the WorkSafeBC curriculum, you’ll be trained with the skills and knowledge on awareness of asbestos, planning for abatement work, setting-up the work area, performing abatement and waste handling . You’ll also learn how to:

  • Understand the required PPE for abatement work and its proper use 
  • Monitor the concentration of asbestos monitoring in the worksite
  • Plan for abatement work and initial site meeting
  • Know which tools and materials to use
  • Understand how to set-up the work area and the components and procedures for full and partial containment
  • Know when and how to use negative air units and Dioctyl phthalate (DOP) testing
  • Follow and apply lock-out procedures
  • Conduct field-level hazard assessments
  • Understand the use of air monitoring equipment and decontamination procedures
  • Use the proper encapsulation techniques
  • Protect yourself through decontamination procedures
  • Dispose of asbestos properly
  • Understand different waste hazards
  • Protect other works and trades from asbestos
  • Demonstrate you can safely remove and dispose of contaminated materials in a simulated environment

Exam fee: Included Certification and continuing credits: Once you pass the final exam with an 80% or higher, you'll earn your WorkSafeBC Level 1 Asbestos Awareness and Level 2 Asbestos Abatement Certificate, valid for 3 years. Exams are available in English, Chinese (simplified and traditional), Punjabi, Spanish, and Tagalog.

Freight charges will apply unless otherwise agreed to by Safety Express. For special order, non-stock products, and factory direct orders, freight charges may apply regardless of shipping location. Return Eligibility:

Timely Returns: Returns will be accepted for unopened products in their original packaging within 15 days from the date of purchase. Restocking Fee: Items returned after 15 days will be subject to a 20% restocking fee. Time Limit: Returns cannot be accepted for products purchased more than 45 days prior to the return request.

Non-Eligible Returns:


Products classified as non-stock or special-order items are ineligible for return to Safety Express.

Return Authorization:


Request Authorization: To initiate a return, you'll need a return authorization number from Safety Express. This is a crucial step for a smooth return process. How to Obtain: You can acquire a return authorization number by contacting your local branch or calling our toll-free number at (800) 465-3898.

Exceptions:


Damaged Items: If you receive a damaged item, please notify Safety Express within 15 days. We will promptly provide an exchange for the exact item during this period. After 15 days, the product will be repaired in accordance with the manufacturer's warranty.

Extraordinary Events: Safety Express will not accept returns on high-volume purchases made during catastrophic events like floods, fires, tornadoes, earthquakes, hurricanes, etc. Safety Express reserves the right to determine if such an event has occurred.

"Classes" refers to the classes/workshops/seminars provided by us to you as specified in your Order confirmation; “We/Us/Our” refers to Safety Express, part of the Aramsco family.



Services/Pricing


We make all reasonable efforts to ensure that general descriptions of our classes correspond to the actual class that will be provided to you.


We make all reasonable efforts to ensure that all prices shown for classes on our website are correct at the time of going online. We reserve the right to change prices and to add, alter, or remove special offers from time to time and as necessary.


All prices are checked by us when we process your order. In the unlikely event that We have shown incorrect pricing information, please note the following:


We will contact you before proceeding with your order to inform you of the mistake and to ask you how you wish to proceed. We will give you the option to purchase the Services at the correct price or to cancel your order.


IICRC Exam Fees for online classes are paid upon registering for your exam via the IICRC website. IICRC Exam Fees for in-person classes are paid directly to the Instructor at the time of the exam. Payment methods for Exam Fees vary.


Your in-person IICRC class registration fee includes a light breakfast, lunch, snacks and beverages.



Payments


Payment for classes, as indicated on the order, is due in full at time of registration. Your chosen payment method will be charged as indicated.

Cancellations


All registrations for classes are final and non-refundable.



Cancellation Policy:


If, outside of 31 days of the enrolled class, you are unable to attend, you can choose to transfer your seat to someone else within your organization or choose another class date for the same or equivalent value class.



If, inside of 31 days of the enrolled class, you are unable to attend, you may transfer your seat to someone else within your organization and no other changes will be accepted due to the commitments we’ve incurred with the training organization and instructor.



A full refund will be provided if, due to unforeseen circumstances, we are required to cancel one of our classes. We do not accept responsibility for any losses you may incur relating to travel expenses. We recommend, for in-person classes, to purchase refundable or flexible airline tickets.
