Trauma and Crime Scene Technician (TCST)

The Trauma and Crime Scene Technician (TCST) certification covers the unique situations encountered when performing trauma and crime scene cleanup, regardless of the surface, item, or location. Based on the ANSI/IICRC S540 Standard for Trauma and Crime Scene Cleanup, the certification demonstrates knowledge of the procedures, precautions, and best practices required when working at trauma and crime scenes. Upon achieving the certification, technicians demonstrate their ability to inspect and assess human blood and other potentially infectious materials (OPIM), conduct hazard assessments, develop work plans, and follow appropriate procedures for trauma cleanup, crime scene cleanup, decontamination, and the safe handling and transportation of contaminated materials.
