Registration – Upon purchase you will receive a registration confirmation from our training department on the next business day. The link and training document will be sent to you one week before the start of the course.

Livestream and in-person options available

Length: 4 days livestream or in-person

Prerequisite: Water Damage Restoration Technician (WRT) certification

Who's it for: Experienced technicians, project managers, estimators, or owner/managers who want to expand their understanding within the commercial drying space. Individuals involved in large-loss and CAT work are strongly encouraged to enroll in this course.

Skills/job/work it supports: Looking to upskill your current water damage restoration knowledge? This advanced class will help you do that and more. You'll receive in-depth training on how to properly set up surveys, operate essential equipment, and oversee the project management of commercial losses.

Please note: Due to the nature of commercial drying projects, they are prone to significantly higher rates of hazards and safety risks that aren't generally found in residential projects. These hazards may include but not be limited to higher voltages, confined spaces, energized machinery, hazardous chemicals, heavy equipment, and forklifts.

While our CDS course teaches you advanced techniques and practices, it is not intended to be a health and safety course. We will not cover all of the potential hazards or OSHA compliance issues that are often found during commercial projects.

As a practitioner within this industry, you must comply with all applicable local, state, provincial, and national safety rules and regulations. We highly encourage you to conduct your own research and complete the proper training programs (e.g., HST, OSHA 10-hour, Canadian HST) prior to participating in the CDS course.

Course objectives: You'll be guided through commercial drying practices, challenges, and opportunities that will help you become a more skilled technician, knowledgeable business owner, or refined project manager. These highly-sought after skills will enable you to provide precise estimations and conduct efficient, accurate inspections. You'll learn how to:

  • Properly inspect commercial properties and provide accurate preliminary determinations;
  • Create streamlined workflows and implement administrative processes and systems;
  • Leverage technical methods of effective and timely drying for commercial, industrial, institutional, and complex residential water-damaged structures;
  • Practically set up large loss projects through hands-on, experiential learning;
  • Operate commercial equipment such as desiccants, generators, and power splitters;
  • Navigate the nuances and challenges of complex commercial projects.

Exam fee: $80 USD

Certification and continuing credits: Once you pass the final exam with a 75% or higher, you'll earn your Commercial Drying Specialist Technician certification. This course qualifies for 14 continuing education credits (CEC) with the IICRC.

Full payment must be made at the time of registration and no refunds will be issued once registration is completed. Important - please read training terms and conditions on the training terms tab.
